The Future is Here:

Monsanto Argentina Showcases the Future of Agriculture at Expoagro 2008

Buenos Aries, Argentina – Expoagro is the most important farm show in Argentina, similar to the Farm Progress Show in the United States. The large showground, which this year extends over 500 hectares (1,236 acres) for demonstration plots and 60 hectares (148 acres) for exhibits, takes place at a different farm each year. This year’s show takes place in Armstrong, Santa Fe, March 5 - 8. Monsanto Argentina is a major presence once again at Expoagro, offering visitors an impressive exhibit space plus the Technological Tour – a demonstration plot of R&D pipeline technologies and crop analytics machinery.

Monsanto’s exhibit space showcases several new and popular products including MGRR2 corn, recently launched to the Argentine market. MGRR2 is the first double event approved in Argentina, which combines Lepidoptera tolerance and RoundupReady 2 (tolerant to the glyphosate herbicide), providing the highest performance through the most comprehensive crop protection. Monsanto’s sales representatives will welcome growers and be there to provide advice on agricultural technologies available in Argentina.

Monsanto’s Technological Tour offers visitors access to an exclusive area where they can see – in the field – the benefits of future technologies Monsanto plans to launch to the world market in the next few years such as drought-tolerant corn, Vistive soybeans, SmartStax corn (eight stacked traits), higher yielding soybeans, and more.

Another exciting element of the exhibit is the focus on breeding and trait development. Crop analytics machines from Monsanto’s U.S. laboratories are on display in the exhibition, representing the technological innovation Monsanto offers to promote the development of the farming sector in Argentina.
