Reducing the Environmental Impact of Agriculture

Meeting Humanity's Needs While Reducing the Environmental Impact of Agriculture

As population increases and people demand higher-quality food, farmers need tools that will allow them to meet the world’s needs for more food, fuel, and fiber while reducing agriculture’s impact on the land and helping to preserve natural habitats. Recent studies have shown that farmers who plant biotech crops make fewer pesticide applications and that biotech crops are better for biodiversity than conventional crops.20 Over the next decade, biotechnology will deliver even more products that address land and resource limitations.
